The Indian Logistics Industry has been gaining traction in the last few years and plays a very important role in facilitating trade and thereby propelling the growth of the Indian economy. The size of logistics industry in India is $215 billion and it has been growing at a CAGR of 10.5 per cent. The sector is highly fragmented with a large number of unorganized players and insufficient infrastructure, leading to high costs. The Government aims to reduce the logistics cost to less than 10% of GDP by 2022.

The key challenges for the Logistics Industry are to improve and build infrastructure, expand urbanisation, adopt new technologies and digitalisation, and innovate for faster delivery including for the last mile. With such steps, the global competitiveness of Indian industry can be enhanced, leading to faster growth.
