The Digital Conference on Multimodal Transportation – Aiming Towards Last Mile Connectivity, aims to highlight the key actions that are required to create a vibrant and efficient multimodal system covering roads, rail, sea, inland waterways, air and the warehousing facilities.
The Hon’ble Prime Minister spoke about a robust multimodal system in the country during his Independence Day speech and that the government preparing a National Logistic Policy. One of the key areas to focus will be to look at a multi-modal approach that would include interconnected terminals, efficient and well-designed storage facilities for cargo & containers, efficient operational & maintenance protocols, effective use of technology and above all creating an optimal-modal mix of transportation focused on last mile connectivity.
The conference therefore will focus on identifying key infrastructure challenges that inhibit growth of transportation and logistics sector. It will deliberate upon potential solutions which are required for the development of multi-modal transportation across the country. Discussions would cover important topics like the present challenges of connectivity, emerging opportunities, best industry practices, technological trends besides highlighting the existing strengths of the industry.
