Fisheries Sector has transformed into an essential commercial enterprise, due to increased demand in seafood exports. With Indian Marine Sector catering to the global platter, the nation is the second largest fish producing country with around 14.5 million people engaged in fisheries-related activities to sustain their livelihood. There are varied opportunities across various seafood states like Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat on the West Coast of Indian peninsula; and West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu on the East Coast. The marine markets in these states have the potential to strengthen their ecosystem and their respective earning capacities.

The Government understands the importance of the sector, and has been working relentlessly towards ushering in new projects and chalking out robust incentive framework, with the objective of transforming the states into pioneers in aquaculture development and fisheries extension,  for ensuring food security, livelihood, welfare of fishers and employment generation. Marine vertical in Eastern India has the potential of finding its place in the exquisite cuisines of countries across the globe. Through Government interventions along with the growing market and a conducive business and regulatory ecosystem, the Eastern Region can leverage this space and open new avenues for investments and export. Against this background, CII is organizing a 7 days Virtual Exposition, from 24 - 30 November 2020, at CII Hive, entitled - FISH MART with International Linkage, Digital Conference, B2B Meet, Culinary Competition and Award Ceremony as major highlights of the show.
