ABOUT EVENT

India has committed to continue with its efforts in transforming into sustainable agri-food systems and to achieve the targets set in the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Policy focus in India today is on Doubling Farmers’ Incomes and aligned to the vision a host of interventions are made to strengthen production, post-harvest, marketing and processing aspects of the value chain. India is also running the world's largest food-based safety net programme towards addressing nutritional challenges and bringing diversity in our agri-food systems. Farmer aggregation is another piece gaining centerstage in all policy discourse.

CII is actively engaging in pre-Summit activities, building commitment for carrying forward the outcomes of the Summit and for affecting food system transformation in India. To begin with the food system is being analyzed through six thematic lenses – Production, Processing, Plate, Planet, People, Policy— and multi stakeholder mini dialogues are being conducted towards developing the India Food System Vision 2030 report in partnership with developmental institutions, NGOs and other key stakeholders involved in the food systems. CII has partnered with World Economic Forum as the Regional Partner for the pre-event summit activities.

To identify key actions towards scaling efforts made in improving the food systems in India and to ensure that food systems “leave no one behind” CII is organizing a National Dialogue aligned with the UN Food Systems Summit 2021, on 13th & 14th September 2021. The multistakeholder forum will deliberate on scaling actions towards feeding the most populous nation on this planet by 2030 in a sustainable manner.
