Digital transformation has enormous potential in the growth lifecycle of enterprises for business continuity and expansion. It is essential that the benefit of the digitization is integrated across every sector especially among the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) who have been one of the primary drivers of the economy contributing significantly to industrialization, exports and employment.

 

With the economy now regaining momentum for growth, it is important that MSMEs adopt to the new age technologies that can help them to mitigate the impact of the past and make their business future proof.

 

The dependency on financial transaction in their everyday business affairs become a huge impediment to maintain business continuity in challenging times due to lack of awareness on the digital financial instruments and proper digital infrastructure.

 

Digital Saksham project aims to help Micro & Small Enterprises integrate themselves into the digital economy, further, to support them in increasing their horizon of business and access to markets, diversify their customer base and make their supply chain resilient. The potential reach is of touching 300,000 MSMEs in 25 cities across seven states over a period of three years. 

 

The State of Maharashtra has always been a forerunner in the industrial promotion and economic development with a special focus on empowering MSMEs. 

 

The pilot project will be initiated from the industrial cluster of Maharashtra which will further implemented across Mumbai, Pune, Nashik and Aurangabad. Special surveys were conducted in these cities to understand the paint points of the Micro Enterprises in adopting the digital tools for their businesses. Based on their feedback the content is being developed in Marathi which will be implemented in the training sessions.

 

CII and Mastercard will help educate and upskill small businesses in their digitization journey supporting them to mitigate challenges and adopt digital tools enhancing their competitiveness
