About us

The global Covid 19 crisis has impacted India’s FPOs significantly by hampering market linkage opportunities. While market connection opportunities for FPOs selling fresh produce were impacted by the logistics challenges, FPOs involved in primary processing were impacted by lack of selling opportunities through retail outlets, fairs and to the HoReCA segment which has been majorly impacted by the pandemic.

The Government of India has announced plans to set up of 10,000 new FPOs, which cements the Government’s intention of aggregating farmers into organisations to enhance scale and capacities.

CII endorses the view that aggregation of farmers into FPOs will improve their access to investments, technology, inputs and markets which in turn would increase their income levels. This will also build resilience for the agriculture sector in India going forward, insulating it to future shocks.

It is with this background that CII’s Food and Agriculture Center of Excellence (FACE) has established Business Service Unit Portal for FPOs.

The portal allows easy access to

  • Investments
  • Technology
  • Inputs
  • Information
  • Capacity building
  • Market linkages

Further, specified trainings on marketing, branding, post-harvest practices, hygiene and sanitation practices, food safety, nutrition, etc will be offered to the farmers through the portal.

The portal features a Digital Pavilion and a B2B Lounge to connect farmers and Industry.

The Business Service Unit Portal for FPOs will be beneficial for both FPOs and Industry including retailers, processors, input players, mechanisation companies, and start-ups.
