ABOUT EVENT

Make in India 2.0 | DPIIT CII Forum

As India competes with other emerging economies for global investments and with global companies looking to establish new manufacturing bases, focusing on Cost of doing business, especially arising out of regulatory issues, along with ease of doing business could help India leverage this opportunity. Over the last five years, India has made great strides in Ease of Doing Business - moving from 134th rank in 2014 to 63rd in 2020, on the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business Ranking. Other notable interventions to boost the supply side sentiment are the lowering the corporate tax and bringing in the Bankruptcy and Insolvency code. India has an opportunity to raise its manufacturing competitiveness and become a supplier of choice not only for its large consuming class but also for global markets. This would help actualize the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India.

Against this background we are organizing the Flagship event of the CII National Manufacturing Forum, the DPIIT-CII Forum on 20 January 2021, 1830-2000 hrs, with a focus on Reducing the Regulatory and Compliance burden across Auto, Auto Components, Chemicals, Food Processing, Defence, Electronics, Mining, Steel and MSME which will help businesses become globally competitive. Lot of work is currently going on in DPIIT towards this objective.

Hon’ble Minister Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister for Commerce and Industry, Railways and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India has consented to be the Chief Guest for Session. The session will be presided over from the government by Dr Guruprasad Mohapatra, Secretary, DPIIT and from industry by Mr Baba Kalyani, Chairman CII National Manufacturing council.
