ABOUT EVENT

In 2019, bioenergy power generation increased an estimated 5 per cent and in the Sustainable Development Scenario (SDS), electricity generation from bioenergy increases 6 per cent annually through 2030. Biofuels provide 93 per cent of all renewable energy, and the output expands 24 per cent (0.9 EJ) over the forecast period (2019-24), while renewable electricity in transport is anticipated to increase 70 per cent (0.2 EJ) with greater use of electrified rail as well as electric vehicles, combined with higher shares of renewables in electricity generation.

As bioenergy has risks associated in terms of weather extremes, economic competitiveness, crop related diseases, pest infestation etc. the summit would focus on Deliberations for development and deployment of sustainable and commercially viable models for growth and wide scale propagation of biomass based energy development in a mutually beneficial manner for all stakeholders across the value chain, with the theme “FARM2FUEL: Sustainable BioEnergy Solutions” .

The Theme resonates the inevitable role of technology in the Bio energy Sector and hence the Summit would deliberate on the below elements for discussion:

  1. Technologies used globally that enables conversion and utilization of Biomass  and crop residues to bio-fuels
  2. Policies and framework  in developing and facilitating bioenergy projects - with respect to  emission reduction, energy security and import reduction, augmenting farmer incomes and employment generation etc.
  3. Channelizing biofuels including bio-ethanol and bio-diesel, biogas, bio-CNG and biomass based power  through biomass and crop residue resources
  4. Management and coverage of initiatives and challenges inhibiting commercial utilization of biomass and crop residue
  5. Developing viable, sustainable solutions for efficient utilization of biomass, sustainable biomass procurement supply chain
  6. Innovation and technology development across the value chain, for  efficient manufacture and supply of biofuels from biomass
  7. Addressing the rising urban waste and the problem of non-availability of land for waste disposal
  8. Discussions to expeditious push for implementation of GoI recent amendment for State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) to set up expert committee for examining & allowing enhanced production permission for distilleries  able to produce more ethanol from same plant & same quantum of input, without any  addition in pollution load.
  9. Discussion on comprehensive data sources, studies conducted on Biomass availability, utilization, key limitations  and management on the subject and develop mechanisms & processes for keeping the same updated.

Developing enabling mechanisms for self – sustenance of the sector, through transparent offtake, Financing and incentives.
